Choosing a bohemian rug
Bohemian style is relaxed and collected: warm colour, tribal and Moroccan-inspired motifs, fringes, and texture you can see. It suits rooms full of plants, timber, rattan and layered textiles. Most of this range is from Rug Culture, including the Maison, Oasis, Atrium and Vegas designs, with a few pieces from Asiatic, Sanderson and Harlequin.
What's in the range
- Flatweaves: about half the collection. Light, low and easy to move, and they layer well
- Short pile: soft underfoot, in easy-care polypropylene
- Jute and braided rugs: natural texture for a more earthy look. Blot dry only
- A few shags: for a cosy Moroccan-style bedroom
How to style it
- Layering: put a patterned bohemian rug over a larger plain jute or neutral rug. It adds depth and lets you use a smaller statement piece
- Colour: pull one tone, like terracotta, rust or indigo, into cushions or a throw
- Mixing: bohemian rugs pair well with mid-century and coastal furniture. They don't need to match the rest of the room
Practical points
Most bohemian rugs here are synthetic, so they spot clean easily and suit family rooms and dining areas. Flatweaves can move on hard floors, and a rug pad stops slipping and rippling. Jute pieces should stay out of kitchens and entries. See care by material.
Price and size
This is one of our most affordable styles. Many designs start under $150, and the wool-blend and designer pieces cost more. Common sizes are 230x160, 290x200, 330x240 and 400x300cm, with runners and rounds in several designs. See the size guide.
